Online Community for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Fort Mill, SC
The chime choir is scheduled to play on Sunday, October 31, so please come early and hear them.
The choir is honored to be invited to participate in an evensong at Christ Church, Charlotte, on Sunday, October 24 at 5 pm. The church is located at 1412 Providence Rd. The music program there is a very fine one, and we are thrilled at the opportunity to sing with them. All St. Paul’s members are cordially invited to attend.
Mark your calendars now! In November we will have a Sunday evening multi-generational program. We will begin with a contemporary Eucharist at 5:00PM. Musicians from Christ Church in Charlotte will come to help us learn new contemporary music. We will then share a covered dish dinner. Following dinner, we will all learn about the Holy Eucharist together. We will have activities that adults and children can do together to learn more about the meaning of communion. Please make plans to be a part of this special experience!
The convention of our Diocese will meet October 15th 16th in Columbia. This will be our first convention under the leadership of Bishop Andrew Waldo. Your delegates to convention are Carol Genest, Becky Traynor, Chris Hage and Lizann Lutz. The theme of our Convention will be Becoming, Discerning, Living and during this meeting we will be discussing the future of our Diocese.
New to St. Pauls? Want to find out more about our parish? We have a one day Newcomers Class on Saturday, October 2nd, from 10:00AM – 12:00 NOON. This is an opportunity to meet other people, to discover more about the Episcopal Church, and to find out how to get more involved in St. Pauls. Are you wondering how to use the Prayer Book? Do you want to know more people at coffee hour? Have you been hoping to find out how to become involved in one of our ministries? Well this is a wonderful opportunity to find out more. If you need child care, please let Rev. Sally know and we will arrange for it.
We are offering a four week adult class called Anglican Worship and Spirituality. This class will introduce the ways that we worship – both corporately and individually – as Episcopalians. We will learn about the Eucharist and why we do the things we do. We will introduce a way to make daily morning or evening prayer a part of our lives. We will also discuss how to use others forms of prayer and devotion that will help to make our relationship with Christ stronger and more vital. We will meet in the parish hall on Sunday mornings at 9:15AM through October 24th. (No class on Oct. 3rd because of parish breakfast.)
Following Anglican Worship and Spirituality, our next adult class will be Invitation to the New Testament. This class is an introduction to the themes of the New Testament. We will explore the coming of Jesus into our world his life, actions, mission, death and resurrection. During this class we will also explore the implications his life has for our own life and for the life of our community. This class may sound familiar to you. We began it in May but decided that we did not have enough time to really cover it before the end of the school year. Therefore we decided to do it later. We will begin this class on November 14th at 9:15AM.
On October 10th, we will begin a new format for the healing service. During the healing service, we offer the sacrament of unction the laying on of hands and anointing with oil for Gods healing of body, mind, and soul. Prayers for healing will be offered during the serving of communion. A prayer desk will be set up to the side of the chancel, near the organ. Those who wish for prayer for themselves or others may come to the prayer desk after they have received communion. If someone is already at the prayer desk, you may wait in the first pew.
Starting October 12th, we invite you to gather on Tuesdays for lunch and a short Bible Study. We will be discussing the fruits of Gods Holy Spirit love, joy, peace, patience, sensitivity, and faithfulness. These are short studies that dont have to be prepared for beforehand. We will meet at Sweet Peppers in Baxter at 11:45AM. As always, visitors are welcome. This study may be a good way to introduce a friend or neighbor to the people of St. Pauls. Please join us as we explore the gifts of Gods Holy Spirit over a delicious lunch!
