The Pilgrims gave thanks to God in the 1620's for bountiful crops and over the years continued to be thankful for their many blessings. In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln declared the 4th Thursday in November as the National Holiday of Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving will be celebrated this year on Thursday, November 25, 2010. This year like in the 1620s it will be a time of family gatherings, sharing what we have with others and giving thanks for all that has been bestowed upon us.
At McSwain-Evans Funeral Home we give thanks for the many long lasting friendships that have been built over the years and pray that everyone may be grateful for the many blessings that have been given to them.
