Our staff is committed to continuing the tradition of professional funeral service with compassionate care and understanding during your time of need.
The history of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home dates back to around 1942, when Rudolph J. Hursey established the Hursey Funeral Home on Main Street in Chesterfield, in the old Cora Craig and Madge Curtis store, at the present site of the Chesterfield County Courthouse. In 1959 after the death of Mr. Hursey, Tom B. Miller, who had worked with Hursey Funeral Home since 1945 and A. Don Rivers, who had previously worked with Redfearn Funeral Home, became partners and established Miller-Rivers Funeral Home. The Funeral Home remained in the original location until December 1963, when the Robert E. (Bob) Rivers Sr. homeplace was purchased and the Funeral Home moved to its present location at 318 East Main Street, Chesterfield, SC.

On June 10, l971 Phillip C. Caulder, Jr. began his career in funeral service when he was employed by Miller-Rivers Funeral Home, at the age of 14. He worked with Miller-Rivers Funeral Home until Mr. Miller and Mr. Rivers retired on June 30, 1988. At this time Phillip and his wife Yetive Watson Caulder purchased the Miller-Rivers Funeral Home and the business name was changed to Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Inc. The Caulders did an interior renovation in 1988. Then in 1999 an extensive renovation was done to the entire building. During this time a new embalming room and dressing room was added, along with a new casket selection room, and a vestibule and chapel with seating for 225 guests. A portico was also added to accommodate 4 vehicles.
The commitment of the Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home high standards of caring for the families of our area with Dignified and Friendly service has continued through the years with the capable leadership of Phillip and Yetive Caulder and their staff.
