At that point you can decide if you want to repair it at the price we quote you or you may decide to do nothing with it at all. If you do not want to repair your computer there is no cost for us performing the diagnostic.

We are located at 2840 Thomas Sumter Hwy. Sumter, SC 29153.

If you have DSL provided by Farmers Telephone, you may experience problems sending mail in Outlook, Outlook Express, or another mail program.

Farmers Telephone has made changes to its network filtering that will affect some people's ability to send e-mail. This change will affect you if the following are true:

1. You get your mail or some of your mail from an address that does not end in @ftc-i.net
2. Your other mail server uses the default port for sending mail.

(If you notice that you have trouble sending mail, and this problem started approximately sometime in February/March 2008; then, this will probably also be the problem)

Farmers is making changes to their network which will bar anyone from sending SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, ... or outgoing e-mail) information on port 25 outside of the FTC-I network. Any attempts to send mail on this port using any mail server other than Farmers Telephone's will be blocked out.

Farmers Telephone is implementing this measure to try and reduce the amount of e-mail SPAM that is sent through the FTC-I network. They can thus lower the amount of SPAM, and ensure that more speed is available to the average legitimate Farmers' interent surfer.

Since you will only have this problem if you are sending e-mail using an outside Host (if one of your e-mail addresses ends in something other than ftc-i.net,) you will have to find out from that host (the place that you got that other e-mail address from) What other port you can use to send mail through their service. Most e-mail host provider companies have a website or phone number that will allow you to find out this information.

Once you have an alternative port number, you will need to change your e-mail program settings to use this new port number.

In Outlook and Outlook Express, you change this port number by going to Tools in the menu, and choosing E-mail Accounts or Account Settings. You then go to the properties of the account which goes through a company besides Farmers Telephone. In the account properties, you will find an Advanced Settings section or tab. There you will want to change the number of the outgoing server (SMTP) to the number that your e-mail host company told you that you could change it to. (before you change it, it will probably be the box that has the number 25 in it.)

Some other e-mail programs may have this setting in another place, but all of them should have a way to change this setting.
