For over seven years, people upon entering The Wig Shop, in Murrells Inlet have felt a loving, welcoming presence in the knowledgeable and capable hands of the staff.

About 10 years ago, Glenda was diagnosed with the condition known as alopecia. Alopecia (al-oh-PEE-shah) is a highly unpredictable, autoimmune skin disease resulting in the loss of hair on the scalp and elsewhere on the body.

Over 20 million women in the United States are suffering from some type of hair loss. About 40% of them are also under forty years old. The emotional aspects of hair loss range from anxiety, depression, frustration and poor self-esteem. Although not life-threatening, alopecia is most certainly life-altering, and its sudden onset and unpredictable course have a profound psychological impact.
