Summer has arrived and with it some really hot and humid days. As you are enjoying the lazy days of summer and your vacations, time on the golf course or the water, I want to wrap up some loose ends in order to make certain that we dont miss out on anything happening in and around the church.
Vacation Bible School has recently concluded. What a great time everybody had as children and adults gathered for immersion in the Word of God. Beginning with great food, fellowship, and song, we then had opportunity to spend time learning about Gods love for His people and how we might better respond to that love and share it with others. It was a wonderful week and I want to thank everyone who worked to make it another successful Vacation Bible School. THANKS!
Serving Christ through the Centuries
St. John's Lutheran Church is the "Mother Church of Lutheranism" in Charleston and in South Carolina. With a history spanning over 250 years, she is among the oldest of congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Ministry to Others
We are a congregation who believes we have been called "to know Christ... and to make Christ known" by transforming ourselves, the community, and the world for Christ.
Welcome to St. John's!
Thank you for visiting St. John's. Your presence adds to the beauty of the songs we sing and the glory of the worship we offer God our Creator, Christ our Savior, and the Holy Spirit our Companion.
Diverse Opportunities
The word is the heart and spirit of the church; the congregation is its lifeblood. The diverse programs at St. John's are designed to uplift the spirit and the body of every member through a diverse offering of programs to promote education and fellowship.

November 14 - 5:00 PM ministry & 6:00 PM Thanksgiving Dinner
Our plans are that everything will happen under the theme of Thanksgiving. With that in mind, we are asking each person to bring with them an item that we can use as we provide the trimmings for a Thanksgiving meal to a family that we have adopted. Items to bring include: canned vegetables, stuffing or dressing mix, some form of cranberries (canned, so they will keep), and anything else you think would be a wonderful treat for a Thanksgiving meal. We will deliver your gifts, making certain that we supplement anything not received (such as the turkey).

CHICKS (USC) or COWS (CU)
To help support the ongoing Heifer International project that our Sunday School children are participating in, we are offering donuts for sale between our worship service on November 21st in the Parish Hall. The much loved and dreaded rivalry of the Clemson--Carolina game is drawing near. To up the ante, we want to see who can buy the most donuts: Clemson or Carolina? All donations are appreciated (Dont want all those donuts? Then just vote for your favorite team with your donation!) and will help the children in their endeavor to help others!
We Need Your Help to Help Others
