I’ve always been fascinated by this picture by Robert Frank. Taken in McClellanville, S. C. in the ’50s, Barbershop has an estimated value 0f $60,000-$80,000 and is described as, “one of the central images in The Americans, represents a rare instance from this period in which Frank himself, as a reflection, appears within the frame”.
The barbershop is no longer standing, it was destroyed in Hurricane Hugo. It was located next to what is currently the T.W. Graham’s Restaurant.
The photo is part of a Sotherby’s auction of fine 20th century photographs.

There is a new photo display hanging in the town hall featuring photos from different 4th of July events around town. Including the Town Picnic, cookouts and the beach.
We went to the beach and then headed home for a cook out and fireworks. Here are some pics from our day but stop by town hall to see the display.

Local author, and my dad, William Baldwin’s latest book is a collaboration with Chef Charlotte Jenkins and artist Jonathan Green. The local collection of talent has come together more than a cook book. Its also a great read with beautiful artwork that give a real flavor of the South Carolina Lowcountry.
The book is published by the Evening Post Books. See the article and order a copy at their website.

There is an existing dock but it is in disrepair, so a new permit for a dock with lift, floating dock and covered pier head has been approved. Dock will be located on the turn around area of Jeremy Creek that is dredge regularly to maintain its depth.
The large lot has several incredible landmark Live Oak trees that stretch out to the marsh. A truly unique property in this unique fishing village.
With a recent price drop, this home is priced to move at $850,000.
