Max Biaggis first dual victory in the Superbike World Championships arrived after a tense and exciting Race 2 that saw the Roman champ duel it out with his proud and speedy rival, Leon Haslam on his Suzuki. So it was a repeat of the first race won today by Max, in which he also beat out Haslam for the victory.
Jumping into the lead from the start, Biaggi was pursued by Haslam, but unlike in the first race, they were unable to break away from the rest of the crowd: Cal Crutchlow (Yamaha), Carlos Checa (Ducati) and up until the point when his engine failed, Jonathan Rea (Honda) remained close behind the two leaders, making the race even more uncertain.
A mistake just four laps before the end of the race seemed to have compromised Biaggis run. Biaggi, in the span of a curve, found himself relegated to third place, having been passed by both Haslam and Crutchlow. The Romans will to win was exceptional, and he immediately regained ground over the Brit on his Yamaha and took off after Haslam, who he managed two pass just two laps before the end of the race. Resisting the Suzuki bishops attempt to regain the lead, Biaggi crossed the finish line in first place.
Not since 1998 has an Italian driver (Pierfrancesco Chili at Kyalami) won a dual victory on an Italian motorcycle. With this double win Biaggi moves up to second place in the world classification with 69 points, behind his rival Haslam (85 points).
Aprilia Alitalia Racing Teams triumphant day was completed by two fifth place finishes from the English driver, Leon Camier, who seemed to be improving continuously, and is by now quite comfortable on his Aprilia RSV4 and able to race for extended periods with the leaders.
Its a pleasure to be back on top after the problems we had in Australia, said Biaggi. Weve improved with respect to last year. The pace was a bit slower in Race 2 and we were all quite close. It was really a great battle with a lot of passes and a few mistakes. Im really very happy for this dual victory because it is truly a great outcome, both for me and my team, as well as Aprilia, which is really doing a great job.
I am very happy, said Camier. We did well in both races and set excellent paces. Unfortunately, I wasnt able to find my rhythm during the initial laps and this penalized me quite a bit. Now I also need to make improvements in this area. The familiarity with my RSV4 is improving with this new suspension and weve got a lot of work to do to keep moving forward.

Aprilia does the Superbike Double in Portugal!
News Flash: Aprilia USA is pleased to introduce a 7.9% finance rate for 60 months available on all
new and unused Aprilia motorcycles through Sheffield Financial

Veteran Italian pilot Max Biaggi has ignited his 2010 world superbike campaign with a superb double victory in Portugal. Biaggi simply wasnt going to be denied at Portimao, edging out Briton Leon Haslam (Suzuki) in two pressure-packed 22-lap races. One thing is for sure, the power of Biaggis RSV4 was the talk of the paddock in Portugal.
Not only was the RSV4s power dominant down the long straight at Portimao (Portugal), its agile handling enabled Biaggi to pick fast lines and rocket out of the apex with the bottom end power of the Aprilia V4 engine. It was this power that enabled Biaggi to climb back into the lead after running wide in Race 2. With Haslam and Biaggi battling until the checkered flag, it was the V4s power along the final straight that beat Haslam and his GSXR 1000.
This is the same power and agility that you will find in each RSV4 in your showroom. While other OEMs try to turn a streetbike into a race bike, Aprilia takes a race bike and turns it into a production street bike!
The underseat gas tank was designed for mass centralization
The small wheelbase was designed to achieve near telepathic handling,
The 65 V4 engine gives the RSV4 the low end torque of a V-twin and the top end power of an inline four.
Remember, we didnt build it to race, we built it to win.
On the following page you will see the victory ad that is posted to the Aprilia dealer extranet and the adbuilder. We encourage you to take advantage of this for your upcoming ad placements in print and online media.

DUCATI MULTISTRADA 1200: BEST OF SHOW
More than 20,000 fans voted for the all new Ducati Multistrada 1200 by participating in a contest organized each year by the Italian "Motociclismo" magazine, who carried out a survey among visitors with a form to fill out either at the show or online. The new Multistrada 1200 took more than 48% of the votes, followed by the MV Agusta F4 and the Aprilia RSV4.

The prize giving took place at the end of the show, on the official Motolive stage (the area dedicated to EICMA's external events) in the presence of Dr. Costantino Ruggero, the General Director of EICMA, and Piero Bacchetti, President and CEO of the Edisport publishing group. This was the final event at the end of an intense week that saw nearly 450,000 visitors fill the Halls of the Milano-Rho trade show district.

The award only emphasizes the public's enormous interest in the new jewel in the Borgo-Panigale crown, a further confirmation of the energy and resources that Ducati is dedicating to the constant development of new products.

The new Ducati Multistrada 1200 thus reigns supreme. Not just as a new bike, but a new concept of bike. From the moment the EICMA show opened, the Ducati stand dedicated to this innovative machine was flooded with a constant tide of visitors, all eager to see the new product, the pride of the Italian motorcycle industry.

The 1200 is a Multistrada with the emphasis on Multi, a sportbike which is powerful and fun but also easy to ride and whose first priority is the safety and comfort of its rider.

Ducati wanted to produce a motorcycle to tackle any kind of journey and road surface, a motorcycle that used technology derived from the Bologna-made race bikes in MotoGP and World Superbike.

A bike with no limits, that can transform itself to suit the rider's demands, from a supersport to a tourer for long journeys with a passenger and luggage, to an everyday bike which can breeze through the daily commute and also tackle off-road routes with the agility of an enduro; in other words, four bikes in one!

The Ducati Multistrada 1200 arrives on the market in Spring 2010.

Ahead of the EICMA International Motorcycle Show in Milan, Ducati release images previewing its newest model the fun and versatile Hypermotard 796.

Just as aggressively striking as the 1100, the lightweight new Hypermotard 796 features a lower seat height and brand new smooth and flexible engine to make it the perfect urban assault vehicle.

A dry weight of just 167kg (368lb) and seat height of 825mm (32.5in) makes the Hypermotard 796 a sure-footed 20mm (0.8in) lower than the 1100 and inspires confidence however and wherever its ridden.

The completely new Ducati 796 engine has a bore and stroke of 88mm x 66mm, conforms to Euro 3 regulations and produces 81hp (59.6kW) of power and 55.7lb-ft (7.7kgm) of torque with the smooth and very economical rideability enjoyed from all Desmodue L-Twins.

The new power unit is also equipped with an APTC wet clutch to give a slipper type action that prevents destabilization of the rear-end during aggressive down-shifting and also gives the extra benefit of a super-light feel at the adjustable lever, a great advantage in stop-start city traffic or during longer journeys.

The new Hypermotard 796 comes in an urban-style Dark finish with matte black tank and beak section, black frame and black wheels or, alternatively, matte white tank with contrasting matte black beak, black frame and black wheels. For the purists, an 1100 look-alike with Ducati red tank with matching beak section, red frame and black wheels gives the 796 a traditional livery.

Whether it's working the daily commute or attacking the open roads, the 796 will ride the common ground between

manners and madness by mixing Ducatis unrivalled twin-cylinder power and sportbike heredity with the lightweight and minimalist supermotard concept.
