Lake Greenwood Mixed Use Development: Project Overview

AWHS Architects is currently working on a mixed-use residential development on Lake Greenwood in Greenwood South Carolina.

18 acres of total land area with over 1000 feet of Lake Frontage
The project is designed for phased implementation over several years with the First Phase projected to begin in late 2009/ early 2010
The project was developed to incorporate traditional architectural details and design elements typically found in the Low Country and Charleston

Generous public spaces for movement in and around the site
Specific areas were targeted to provide residents and visitors space for recreation and enjoyment of the waterfront
Expecting people to arrive by car and by boat, the site has been designed to facilitate movement from the lake area into the heart of the development and maintain a pedestrian friendly environment
Includes spaces for commercial, retail or professional office space with upper floors potentially used for residential areas.
Wherever possible, rooftop and other areas will take advantage of the Lake view access and provide gathering space for the public and for residents in the development
Includes lake front lots for 20 single family residences and a mix of condo and loft type units.
The condo units will be located in multiple buildings, with a variety of floor plan options
There will also be a limited number of luxury penthouse units with private rooftop garden/ terrace areas.
The commercial areas of the development include spaces intended for quick stop type stores and a destination retail center located around a large outdoor gathering space.
A small section of the site has also been targeted for a lake front restaurant with private dock access for patrons arriving by water.
