Our attorneys are licensed in the State of South Carolina. A former clerk to the Honorable G. Ross Anderson, Jr., United States District Judge, Candy Kern-Fuller, is licensed in the Federal Court for the District of South Carolina and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and has been a certified mediator for over a decade. She has advanced certification in employment mediation and is also a certified arbitrator. Trey Sutter worked over four years as in-house counsel for Ryobi Corporation (now known as TTI) negotiating contracts, managing outside counsel and overseeing trademarks and patents before joining a former firm with Ms. Kern-Fuller in the Summer of 2007.

While practicing separately and then together in other firms since 2003, Ms. Kern-Fuller and Mr. Sutter formed the Upstate Law Group, LLC in September of 2008.
Although the Upstate Law Group is a full-service, general practice, Ms. Kern-Fuller is known for her work in employment law. Her recent victory in the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a $200,000.00 verdict she and her co-counsel Victoria Eslinger, Esq. won on an Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) case, Wilson v. Phoenix Specialty. [Link]. Ms. Kern-Fuller is extremely knowledgeable about the network of laws that control how employers must treat employees, former employees, and applicants for employment. She litigates primarily on behalf of employees.
