Born November 1, 1952 in Asheville, NC, Nancy Chiles graduated from
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1974 and completed
law school at the University of South Carolina in 1980. The SC Bar
admitted her to practice in November 1980. Her legal career spans 27
years beginning as a prosecutor in the 9th Circuit Solicitors Office in
Charleston, SC. She prosecuted child sexual abuse cases and later
participated in forming and running a private non-profit organization
serving abused children - Children at Risk, Inc. Ms. Chiles joined a
private multi state law firm, Smiley and Mineo LLC becoming a
partner in 1990. Since 1994 she maintains a private solo practice in
Charleston, South Carolina with a concentration in employment
matters emphasizing representation of federal employees before the
EEOC and MSPB.
Ms. Chiles has successfully represented Agency employees of the
USDA, Veterans Administration and the United States Postal Service in
litigation before the EEOC and Veterans Administration Disciplinary
