The first-ever campus wide Philanthropy Week is quickly approaching. One of the many events going on during the week is a family cook-out on Monday, November 8th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm On The Green. Families are invited to stop by, grab dinner, and check out the philanthropic displays that will showcase how students and campus groups have given back over the past year. We hope that everyone will choose to participate and join us in this inaugural event.
Cyclone Volleyball Wins the State Championship
Julia McAvoy's spike set off a celebration that might last until the Porter-Gaud volleyball team reconvenes in time for the 2011 season. The Cyclones' super sophomore delivered the final point of Tuesday's Class AAA state championship, and she did it with style and thunder. Her spike gave the Cyclones a 25-27, 25-16, 25-20, 25-21 victory over Ashley Hall in front of approximately 1,200 fans at the College of Charleston's Carolina First Arena. When the point was official, the Cyclones faithful swarmed the court and celebrated the school's first state title since 2006.

A Menagerie of Ghoulish Characters Invaded PG on Friday
Halloween is always a source of excitement for children young and old. Porter-Gaud does a wonderful job making Halloween fun for the entire PG Family. The Annual Halloween Carnival, organized by the Parents Guild, is always one of the highlights of the entire year. On Friday, The Green was covered with jump castles and an assortment of games, much to the delight of the students and their parents. The carnival is a monumental undertaking, and our dedicated parents made it look easy (if that is possible knowing the countless hours they put in). Congratulations to the entire Halloween Carnival Committee for your outstanding work. Seeing the joy on the faces of our students all afternoon meant a job well-done!
