Trident Academy is one of only eight learning disabilities or differences (LD) schools in the United States that is accredited by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. Trident Academy is a school for students with diagnosed attention deficit hyperactive disorders (ADHD) or attention deficit disorder (ADD), dyslexia, dyscalculia, central auditory processing difficulties and/or dysgraphia. Located on the southeast coast in Charleston, South Carolina (SC) , the school offers parents and students educational support in a multi-sensory environment.
The director of Trident Academy's Language Enrichment and Development Program (LEAD) is an active board member of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. Trident Academy uses the Orton-Gillingham language-based approach to instruction. The structured, sequential, and cumulative approach introduces the elements of the language systematically. As a special school for learning disabilities or differences, students with dyslexia, attention deficit disorder (ADD/ADHD), dysgraphia, dyscalculia, central auditory processing difficulties, or other learning disabilities or differences are taught in classes with low teacher/student ratios.
